LESSON 1-Introduction to Weebly
You will be given your own Weebly account. On Weebly you can create your own website and include blogs.
For use only with Technology projects-not for outside use.
All websites can be read, edited and deleted by teachers. They are not private.
No student pictures can be on the website.

Step 1-Setting up your website
1. Go to http://students.weebly.com
2.Enter in your student name and password
3.Title Your site: Grade7your initials and either wed or fri
4. Click on Design, All Themes, Education, Click on first page the Big Pencil
5.Preview Theme, Use Theme
6. Go to Pages. Add a Page
7. Add New Page and call it Favorites
8. Save
9. Add new Blog and call it WHERE IS THIS
10. Save Settings
11. Publish: your URL is grade7 your initials and either wed or fri

LESSON 2:What is This?-Pictures on your blog.

1. Go to Ms. Zobel's Science wiki.

2.Go to the photos link.
3. Drag the picture of the photo to your desktop.
3. Sign into your Weebly account.

4. Go to your webpage and click on your blog-What is this?
5. Edit Blog
6.Drag picture element on the page
7. Upload the picture to your blog.
8. Under your picture explain the following:
Claim-your answer
Give Evidence to support your claim-observations you make
Reason-explanation...I believe this is an image of a because.....



9. In science, Ms. Zobel will reveal what the picture is!!!



LESSON 3: Posting Data and Images from Coast Sweep on Google Earth
Create a new blog on Weebly and name it Coast Sweep 2011.
Post 1
Record one set of waypoints taken from your GPS during the Coast Sweep.
Explain your goal in the coast sweep and what you discovered and any data that you have.
Search through all the Coast Sweep pictures to find one that helps explain the content you are describing.
Upload this to your blog and publish.
Repeat this process for all your waypoints. Simply add new postings with your pictures.
Publish Live.
Minimize Weebly

Open Google Earth Pro from your computer.
Locate the area you were in during the Coast Sweep. Include your GPS waypoints.
If your GPS displays it as N41.5482*W 090.46993* Google Earth needs it like this: N41.54852 W090.46993
Enter the waypoint coordinate into the Location Field under FLY TO and hit Enter. Your location will be shown.
Click the ADD PLACEMARK button the the top of the toolbar.
A new dialog box will open. Put in a name: Call it Coast Sweep 2011 and your initials.
Open up WEEBLY. Copy the description you wrote about the Coast Sweep and then paste it into the Google Earth Description Box.
Next right click on your image in Weebly and click on copy image location.
Paste this inside your description box in Google Earth. Now you need to add some HTML for your image to show up.

Now click ok and your image is in google earth!
Click your placemark to see what you have created.


Lesson 4 Creating an Audio Tour in Google Earth
Open up Word-or on a piece of paper think of 4 important places in your life-anywhere in the world.
Write 2-3 sentences about each place.
Open up Google Earth .
Select My Places and right click it once->Add>Folder
Type in the name of your tour: Important places in my Life and press ok.
Visit each important place and add a yellow placemarker at each one.
Add a name. (There is no need to do a description, as you will be creating an audio file to describe the place.)
All the places you visited should show up beneath the Important places in my Life folder.
Select the Record a tour button in the tool bar.
The record tour controls appear in the bottom left corner of the button.
The red button is the record/stop tour button to capture just the images in Google Earth.
The blue microphone is the audio record button.
You must press both to capture the images in the tour and the audio.
Click on the places and begin to record your tour. When you are finished, click the red button again to stop recording.

To save a tour:
Click the save button on the tour player. Give your tour a name. Your tour is now stored in your My Places Panel.
To save it t oa permanent .kmz file, right click the tour in your My Places panel, choose SAVE PLACE AS and save your tour .kmz file
to a location on your computer. You can then upload your tour on your Weebly website for everyone to see.
